Honolulu wakes up to messages sent in other time zones

Businesses in Honolulu serve two clocks: local customers on Hawaii time, and visitors who plan their trips from the West Coast, the East Coast, Canada and Japan. Many of their questions land while you are asleep. This page is built around that clock and what AYDUKE can do in the hours you are not at the counter.

  • The assistant answers overnight questions from your own records
  • Open times from your calendar, booked inside the chat
  • Posts scheduled for the hours your audience is awake

The clock

Hawaii does not change its clocks for daylight saving time, and the mainland does. For part of the year, a visitor in Los Angeles is two hours ahead of you, for the rest three. New York is five or six hours ahead, Tokyo nineteen. A question sent at a reasonable hour from home can reach your inbox before dawn.

When their message arrives on Hawaii time

Approximate, depending on daylight saving time on the mainland.

New York or Toronto9 p.m., planning in bedAbout 3 or 4 p.m. the same day

The takeaway: a lot of pre-trip planning reaches you at night or early morning. That is exactly when an assistant that knows your answers is useful.

One night at a small dive shop near Waikiki

An illustration, not a real business. The shop runs two boat dives a day with a fixed number of spots, plus beginner courses.

  1. 10:40 p.m.A couple in Vancouver asks on Instagram whether beginners can do a boat dive. The assistant explains the intro course from the shop's records.
  2. 1:15 a.m.A family in Chicago asks about gear sizes for kids and the minimum age. Answered from the FAQ.
  3. 2:30 a.m.A traveler in Osaka writes through the website chat for a Thursday morning dive. The system shows three spots; he books and receives a confirmation email.
  4. 5:00 a.m.A scheduled Facebook post goes out: "Afternoon trip this week has spots, calm-weather days book up."
  5. 6:30 a.m.The owner arrives, sees the overnight booking alerts that came by SMS and email, and answers the one chat that asked about a medical form. That is a question for the shop, not the assistant.

Booking a couples massage from the mainland

An example exchange, not a real customer. Times come from the spa calendar and are shown in local Hawaii time.

Customer: Hi, we land Friday. Could we book a couples massage Saturday afternoon?
Assistant: Aloha, and welcome in advance. Saturday has 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. open for a 60-minute couples massage. All times are Hawaii time.
Customer: 4:30 please. Is it walkable from Kalakaua Ave?
Assistant: Yes, we are about a ten-minute walk from Kalakaua Avenue. I have Saturday 4:30 p.m. ready. After you confirm, you will get an email with the details and a link to view or cancel.
Customer: Confirmed, mahalo.

Setting the clock right before you open the chat

  1. Connect accounts with the guides

Instagram, Facebook and Google connect through your own developer app over OAuth, with a step-by-step guide for each.

  2. Write the time zone into your records

Add a line such as "all times are Hawaii time" so the assistant repeats it to visitors.

  3. Let it learn from your website

Up to 500 pages read and refreshed weekly, including Shopify or WooCommerce catalogs. Manual entries win if they conflict.

  4. Choose after-hours behavior

Autonomous mode replies overnight; draft mode waits for your approval in the morning.

  5. Schedule posts for their evening

Posts for mainland visitors can go out in your afternoon, when it is evening back home.

Frequently asked questions

Does AYDUKE have an office in Honolulu?

No. AYDUKE is online software with no local office. Setup runs through the panel's guides, and questions go through the contact page.

Can the assistant tell visitors about surf or weather conditions?

No. It has no live information and will not guess. Point visitors to official forecasts in your records, and it will share that.

Our guests are from Japan. Can the assistant reply in Japanese?

You choose the reply language in the settings. If most of your bookings come from Japan, Japanese can be the right choice; otherwise add handoff keywords so those chats reach you.

Do guests get a text reminder?

Guests get confirmation and reminder emails with a link to view or cancel. Text messages to customers are not available in the US. You get alerts by SMS and email.

We take payment before trips. Does that happen in the chat?

No. Payments and orders stay in your own channel. The assistant can share your payment link from your records.
