Two seasons, one reservation book: Milwaukee from Summerfest to fish fry
Businesses in Milwaukee live with two very different years in one. Summer on the lakefront is festivals, patios and visitors; winter is regulars, Friday fish fry and cozy back rooms. This page shows how table reservations, replies and posting change between the two, and how to set things up once for both.
- Table capacity per time slot, adjusted when the patio opens or closes
- Instagram DMs, Messenger and website chat answered from one inbox
- Seasonal posts scheduled ahead, so summer does not eat your evenings

The two years
A lakefront summer and a long, loyal winter
From June through August the festival grounds on Lake Michigan are busy most weekends, starting with Summerfest and running through a string of cultural festivals. Patios in the Third Ward, on Brady Street and in Bay View fill up, visitors come in from across the region, and a lot of questions arrive from people who have never been to your place.
Winter is the opposite. Fewer visitors, more regulars, and traditions that carry the season: the Friday fish fry, supper club dinners, beer releases at the breweries that grew out of the city's long brewing history. Marquette and UW-Milwaukee keep a student crowd in town, and manufacturing employers keep a steady base of weekday customers.
The same reservation system has to work in both. In summer it needs more capacity and faster answers; in winter it needs to handle the Friday rush without the phone ringing off the hook.
A Friday in February at a neighborhood fish fry
A composite evening, not a real restaurant. The dining room seats a fixed number per half hour.
- 10:00 a.m.A scheduled post goes out on Facebook and Instagram: cod, perch and walleye tonight, reservations in the chat, walk-ins at the bar.
- 12:30 p.m.Messenger requests stack up for 6:00 and 6:30. The system offers only the slots with enough seats and suggests 5:30 or 7:30 when a slot is full.
- 3:00 p.m.A regular asks if they still have the potato pancakes. The assistant answers from the menu entry.
- 5:15 p.m.The owner adds two phone reservations by hand. Those seats disappear from the chat immediately.
- 8:45 p.m.Someone asks about a birthday party of fourteen next month. That is beyond the online capacity, so the assistant offers a handoff and the owner gets an SMS and an email.

Festival weekend in July, a brewery patio request
An example conversation written for this page, not a real guest. Table availability comes from the brewery's reservation calendar.
The dog and weather answers are entries the brewery wrote. The assistant does not check the forecast.
Summer settings versus winter settings
| Setting | June to August | November to March |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity per slot | Higher, with the patio open | Dining room only |
| Booking window | Further ahead for festival weekends | Shorter; regulars book the same week |
| Approval | Automatic, to keep up | Automatic, with business approval for large parties |
| After-hours reply | Point to walk-in bar seating | Point to Friday reservations |
| Knowledge base | Patio, parking near the lakefront, dog policy | Fish fry menu, holiday hours, private rooms |
Switching between the two is a few changes to capacity and entries, not a new setup.
A posting rhythm for each season
- Summer Short posts several times a week on Instagram and Facebook: patio open, festival hours, the special of the day. Keep your Google Business Profile hours and posts current for visitors.
- Fall Game-day posts, Oktoberfest menus, the switch back to indoor seating.
- Winter A weekly Friday post, holiday party booking reminders, release-night announcements. Facebook groups for the neighborhood carry a lot of this.
- Spring Patio opening date, summer event bookings, new staff. Schedule the first summer weeks now.
A Milwaukee marketing agency, or your own seasonal routine
AYDUKE is software, not an agency, and it does not create content for you. It handles the scheduling, replies and bookings that make up most of the routine.
Worth an agency
Photography, a new brand look, a campaign for a big opening. An agency you already use can plan in the same panel.
Easy to own yourself
- Scheduling a season of posts in one sitting
- Answering table questions at night
- Taking reservations into real capacity
- Exporting XLSX or CSV reports
Agencies and freelancers managing several restaurants or breweries can connect those accounts within their plan's account limit and work from one calendar. The reseller program is free, with commission paid while referred businesses keep paying.
Set up both seasons in the demo
The free demo account opens at signup with no credit card, every platform, the core features and AI credits to test table requests.
Frequently asked questions
Can we keep walk-in seats at the bar out of online booking?
Yes. Set online capacity to the tables you want to book, and keep the bar for walk-ins. Phone reservations are added by hand.
Do guests get a text reminder for Friday fish fry?
No. In the US, guests receive confirmation and reminder emails with a link to view or cancel. You get new-reservation alerts by SMS and email.
We only open the patio in summer. Do we need two accounts?
No. Change the capacity and your patio entries when the season changes. The same calendar and inbox carry on.
Is there an AYDUKE office in Wisconsin?
No. AYDUKE is remote software with no local office or staff. The in-panel guides and the help pages cover setup.
Can the assistant take a food order for pickup?
No. Orders and payments stay in your own ordering system. The assistant can explain how to order and share the link you gave it.
