About the Ideal Weight Calculator

These formulas were developed for clinical dosing and have limitations. Use the range rather than a single number as your target.

- View ideal weight from multiple formulas and the healthy range.
Frequently asked questions
Which formula is best?
None is definitively "best". The BMI range (18.5–24.9) gives the widest healthy band. Devine is most commonly cited in clinical settings.
Does frame size matter?
Yes. A large-framed person naturally weighs more than a small-framed person of the same height. Wrist circumference is a common way to estimate frame.
Are these accurate for muscular people?
No. Like BMI, these formulas do not account for muscle mass. A lean, muscular person may exceed "ideal" weight and still be very healthy.
