Which tax year does this use?
The calculator defaults to 2025/26 (6 April 2025 to 5 April 2026). You can select earlier years for comparison.
Does it include Scottish income tax?
Yes. Select "Scotland" under region to apply the starter, basic, intermediate, higher and advanced rates used by Revenue Scotland.
How is the personal allowance reduced?
For income above £100,000 the £12,570 personal allowance is reduced by £1 for every £2 of income over the threshold, reaching zero at £125,140.
Are employer NI contributions shown?
The calculator focuses on employee deductions. Employer NI is not included in the take-home figure but is shown as a reference.
