Frequently asked questions
How does the algorithm work?
Digits 1–9 produce check digit 10 via a weighted sum, and digits 1–10 produce check digit 11 via another formula. Both must match.
Does this verify identity?
No. It only confirms the number is structurally valid. It does not check whether the number belongs to a real person.
Why must the first digit be non-zero?
TC Kimlik numbers are always 11 digits. A leading zero would make it 10 digits, which is invalid.
